Every minute counts on the construction site - and Krisztina Jandovics ensures that surveying data is available quickly and accurately. As a geomatics engineer at Implenia, a leading construction and real estate service provider headquartered in Switzerland, she is confronted with complex infrastructure projects such as tunnel construction or special civil engineering on a daily basis. Her mission: precise surveying and smooth data exchange - and she relies on rmDATA's software solutions to achieve this.

Complex data, high time pressure

"Time and cost efficiency play a major role on construction sites," explains Jandovics. "Precise planning of the excavation pit is crucial - for example, when it comes to where high-pressure gas lines run or how much excavation is required for an extension."

Jandovics sees herself as the interface between the planners and foremen on the construction site, which is why she attaches great importance to clean and well-prepared data. This is particularly important when exchanging data within a consortium, where data from pipe surveys, cable ducts and drainage systems is supplied to other project participants in a clean and structured manner.

rmDATA products in use

Implenia's surveying team uses the rmGEO and rmNETZ products for geodetic calculations, deformation evaluations and network adjustments. GeoMapper is used for plan creation. The software enables an object-oriented way of working - from the field to the finished plan.

"I'm a surveyor, I need surveying programs and not planning software," says Jandovics with a smile. She is particularly enthusiastic about the automated plan creation based on coded surveying: "It has made my workflow much easier."

"I haven't seen this in any other product," she emphasizes. The pipeline points and lines are displayed in 3D and simultaneously transferred directly to the excavator control system as XML data. It calculates the cubature of the excavation pit from drone images and provides a status quo of the construction site at all times.

A strong team with strong tools

At Implenia, four geomatics specialists work in the surveying department - each of them supervises their projects from the survey to the finished plan. "We support each other, depending on capacity and expertise," says Jandovics. She appreciates the field service on the construction sites just as much as working with the data in the office: "I work with real objects from nature - and rmDATA helps me to display them accurately and in accordance with standards."
