Efficient inventory recording with rmDATA 3DWorx: How KEMPEN KRAUSE Ingenieure combines quality and efficiency.

As a leading engineering firm with 340 employees, KEMPEN KRAUSE Ingenieure from Aachen was faced with the challenge of carrying out inventory recordings for renovation projects more efficiently and with higher quality. Precise and fast inventory recording was and is particularly necessary for complex projects such as the renovation of buildings.
Inventory recording as a basis
A portable laser scanner and a vertical drone are used for inventory recording. The BIM competence center at the engineering company, headed by Christopher Smolka, chose rmDATA 3DWorx for processing point clouds and deriving geometry data. This enables him and his team to create inventory models and derive inventory plans in no time at all, which serve as the basis for revitalization and renovation projects.
Sustainability division
In the project example shown here of a school building from the 1970s (pictures on the left), which is to be renovated in terms of its structure, energy efficiency, and building services, the competence center created a uniform planning basis by scanning and deriving geometries in rmDATA 3DWorx.
The Sustainability Business Unit also benefits from quickly abstracting actual data from buildings and converting it into planning data. In the field of sustainable construction, the digital building resource passport is used for existing properties. These passports document how much material has been used and are based on input data derived with 3DWorx. The aim here is to set up a process for easily determining volumes.

About KEMPEN KRAUSE

The Aachen-based company KEMPEN KRAUSE Ingenieure combines years of expertise with new technologies in the construction industry. Its extensive expertise in structural engineering, property planning, fire protection, structural testing, bridge and civil engineering, road, sewer and pipeline construction, building physics, building certification and structural dynamics is complemented by modern solutions such as BIM and 3D modeling.
The derivation of walls and doors as well as the level analysis function are clear advantages of rmDATA 3DWorx and ensure the consistent quality of the as-built model. We are convinced that 3DWorx will support us well in the creation of 3D models and planning documents and that we will be able to access data more efficiently
The quality of an as-built model always depends on the degree of abstraction created by the person processing it. Especially when vectorizing point cloud data, rmDATA 3DWorx helps us to quickly obtain consistent results.
